As I write this, I can’t believe it’s February; Shu- benacadie Sam’s Twitter account says Nova Scotians can expect six more weeks of winter; Punxsutawney Phil says early spring, as does Ontario’s Wi- arton Willie. I’m not too sure yet who to believe. In the meantime, we have a busy calendar of events for 2020. At the beginning of February, we celebrated Food Service Awareness Week. This recognition week applauds nutrition and foodservice professionals and other members of nutrition services teams for their hard work and dedication on the job. Congratulations to you and your team. Looking ahead, March is Nutrition Month. Check out the Dietitians of Can- ada website for great ideas https://www. Nutrition-Month-2020 . The Global Tea Party on March 18 is an event that cele- brates hydration week across the world. I encourage you to visit their website global-tea-party/ for great resources and event planning ideas. Join OSNM at the “Together We Care Convention & Trade Show” at the Toronto Congress Centre March 30- April 1, 2020. Stop by and visit us at the OSNM booth. We would love to see you. As we look towards June, OSNM is pleased to share that we will be joining with CSNM at their annual conference June 17-19, 2020 in beautiful Toronto. This year’s theme is “CSNM Trans- forms the Future.” The OSNM Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be held during this conference and OSNM elections will be moved to the month of June. If you or someone you know would like to be on the Board, please reach out to our office and we can an- swer any questions you may have. You will be seeing emails from our office as we prepare for the upcoming AGM. Your OSNM Board of Directors has been very busy with several initiatives. The team has is currently working on revising policies and procedures, up- dating bylaws, working on the Trillium newsletter as well as social media con- tent, collaborating with CSNM and Dietitians of Canada to review the Food Service Worker Learning Outcomes and working on OSNM restructuring. With the recent release from the Auditor Gen- eral’s office, OSNM, in conjunction with CSNM, has written a position statement that was sent to the Auditor General in support of the recommendations made. We have not received any further com- ments from the Office of the Auditor General at this time. I can’t thank this Board enough for all their time and dedication to OSNM. We are all busy working full time jobs yet everyone manages to contribute to the mission of OSNM, which is, “developing, promoting and representing the profes- sion of nutrition management in Ontario”. Gandhi wrote “The future depends on what you do today.” A big “thank you” to the hard working team who makes this happen.
