I am passionate about this organiza- tion and the people we serve and am confident the year ahead will be a very exciting time for all. What a terrific time was had by all at our annual conference in Cobourg. From the wonderful array of speakers to the dynamite vendor showcase, the entire conference was a huge success. Thank you to Leslie Edwardson and Neil MacDonald and their committee for putting on this spectacular event. I believe the time has come for OSNM to revive itself and be recog- nized by all stakeholders in Ontario as the experts we are in food and nutrition. As we move forward with our new board, expect change. Over the past few years, the organization has invested some money (thanks to CSNM) to build a new strategic plan. It is this disciplined effort that produc- es fundamental decisions and actions that will shape and guide what OSNM is and who it serves with a focus on the future. OSNM will continue to work on its key strategies that include mem- bership, advocacy, education, technol- ogy and marketing. One major under- taking will include aligning our bylaws and policies and procedures with the national organization. Furthermore, part of our contin- ued success includes our volunteer base. OSNM is built on volunteers. Recruitment of volunteers to serve on committees is critical. We have many committees that need YOU, our mem- bers. We ask for approximately 5 hours per month of your time. The following committees are looking for help – Membership, Healthcare, Education, Marketing and Public Relations. If you wish to serve or have any questions, please email me at In closing, I follow in the footsteps of the many talented individuals who have taken OSNM to where it is today. I look forward to serving our mem- bership and upholding the values and ethics that OSNM stands for. Most importantly, I look forward to working with my new board as we embark on this new journey together. As we approach the holidays, my warmest thoughts and best wishes to you and your families for a wonderful holiday season a very happy New Year. “The future depends on what you do today.” Mahatma Gandhi
