Spring is traditionally a season of renewal, new growth and renewed energy so it there- fore seems appropriate that OSNM is growing and moving forward. Since my last report, your OSNM Board has been active in the following areas: • Financial administrative services have been transferred to our office services provider, Megram. This provides for: more timely payment and recording of financial transac- tions; preparation of financial state- ments for review by our accounting firm; and compliance with govern- ment reporting deadlines. • Committees for reviewing OSNM bylaws and OSNM policies and procedures have been created with representation from the membership as well as the OSNM Board. • Board members represented OSNM at the Ontario Home Economists Association (OHEA) with the goal of increasing awareness of the role of nutrition managers and the benefits of belonging to OSNM. A significant number of students were present at the conference and expressed interest. • The Office of the Auditor General of Ontario (OAGO) has selected Food and Nutrition in Long-Term Care as an audit topic. Some LTC facilities have been visited by the audit team. Initial contact has been made with the OAGO and a briefing note/re- port is being developed for presenta- tion on behalf of OSNM. • A joint committee with representa- tion from OSNM and Dietitians of Canada, Ontario Long Term Care Action Group has been formed. The purpose of the committee is to review the Food Service Worker Learning Outcomes originally ad- opted in 2007. • Student membership in OSNM has increased over the past year. • Planning for the Education and Leadership Summit in September 2019 is well underway. The keynote speaker, Zaheen Nanji, is sure to be dynamic, entertaining and informa- tive. Remember you are OSNM.
