In this new economy and digital world, change is inevitable. With change comes challenges, obstacles, stress and overwhelm. Moreover, organizations are having to deal with delivering more with less and professionals are feeling pressured. Instead of feeling stuck, unable to cope and having our backs against the wall, it’s time to release those old patterns, reprogram new skill sets and embrace change.

Audiences have walked away with simple tools that they can start implementing right away.

Learning Objectives:

• Release – tapping into your emotional intelligence is the first step to getting unstuck from a setback or problem and creating emotional resilience. Release old patterns by learning a simple technique to bring control to a situation.

Participants will learn a simple language tool that shifts them from being stuck in chaos to regaining control of a situation. This is by far the most remembered tool by audience members.

• Reprogram – feeling helpless and worried isn’t going to help you move forward, but you can create a victor mindset.

In order to find solutions, one has to learn how to reframe situations in real-time. Participants will learn 2 simple ways to reframe, and this takeaway alone allows participants to shift perspective and move towards growth.

• Resolve – the secret to building resiliency is all about embracing change and flexing one’s attitude! Participants will learn the Universal Cycles of Change Model where they understand that in order to create new things, they have to let go the old. This takeaway will completely shift the way they view change.

Doing More with Less and the Culture Change in Dietary with Chris Weber, NM, RSE and Neil MacDonald, NM, RSE

This presentation will motivate and inspire attendees with practical ways to change the culture in their dietary departments. Addressing negative stigmas and common barriers for dietary departments and sharing realistic solutions that will help lead to change.

Chris Weber, NM, RSE

Chris Weber is the Corporate Chef and Operations Manager – Nutrition and Food Services at OMNI Health Care.  He oversees the foodservice and nutrition programs for 18 long term care homes across Ontario.  His background includes over 15 years of food service experience as well as other customer service and business operations/administrative roles. Chris holds a 3 year Advanced Business Administration Diploma and a Culinary Management Diploma as well as a Nutrition & Diet Therapy Certificate.  Chris is an Advanced food safety trainer and possess a Red Seal Cook certification.  He is currently the president of The Canadian Society of Nutrition Management, a 3500 member association of nutrition managers nationwide, as well as the 2015 OSNM Conference Chair.  Chris is a part time professor at an Ontario College in the Food & Nutrition post-graduate program. Chris was the Bronze medalist in the 2007 Skills Ontario Culinary Competition and has a strong passion for food and travel while pursuing a nutritious and active lifestyle.

Neil MacDonald, NM, RSE

Neil Macdonald is the Nutritional Care Manager and Chef at Riverview Manor of OMNI Health Care. He has had a passion for food and life in the kitchen for the past decade and loves the beautiful culinary world. Neil earned a diploma in Culinary Management and an advanced diploma in Business Administration at Fleming College, where he received academic awards and a spot on Fleming’s Ontario Skills competition team. Neil has completed the apprenticeship program in Ontario and has earned an internationally recognized Red Seal Certificate of Qualification in the Cook Trade. Neil graduated the Food Service and Nutrition Management program from HealthCareCAN. Neil is an active member of the CSNM and sits on the board of Directors of the OSNM as the Kawartha Chapter Representative. Before his experience in LTC, Neil worked in various fine dining establishments in his home town of Peterborough, ON.


Katie LeClair

Katie LeClair is a young professional who knows what it means to lead. After graduating with a degree in business from Bishop’s University, she kickstarted her career as a recruiter, travelling across Canada promoting post-secondary education. In 2016 she joined the non-profit organization Global Vision as an ambassador during the Junior Trade Mission to China. She then went on to complete a Master of Communications degree at the University of Ottawa and began her work with the non-profit organization Young Leaders.World. She continues to help youth around the globe discover life leadership through personal growth and collective good.

Katie’s current title is Corporate Communications Team Lead at Ottawa’s lead economic development agency and innovation hub, Invest Ottawa and Bayview Yards, organizations that help businesses grow. Her specialties are strategy and content creation. With a strong foundation in social media management and marketing, brand development and corporate messaging, Katie sees her job as a message deliverer and positive action provoker. She speaks because she is determined to use her passion for effective communication to help others identify their message and to share it in a way that works.

    Shannon is an entrepreneur, and business owner since 1999.  
    Shannon began her career as a Reflexologist in 1999 while attending college to become a Registered Massage Therapist. In 2000 she began her career as a Registered Massage Therapist. She worked in many different establishments from a multi-disciplinary center to one of Ontario's Top Spas, to back into private practice where she then retired from professional practice. Throughout those years, she took many courses in Craniosacral Therapy, Nutrition, and Personal Training. Shannon was also a professor Sir Sanford Fleming College between 20012006, she taught courses on: Massage Theory, Practical Lab, Understanding Canadian Health Systems, and was an examiner for last year students. She was also a Massage Therapy OutReach Instructor from 2000-2005  
    In late 2005 Shannon started a career in Network Marketing in the health and wellness industry to assist people in reaching their wellness goals. Throughout the years she has created a very large organization that expands throughout Canada, US, Australia, she has become one of the top income earners in her industry and has also become a sought after speaker and facilitator. 
    She works with business leaders, and customers on a daily basis and has had to learn to be highly effective in communication and understand what drives human behavior to obtain results. In 2012 Shannon became a Certified John C. Maxwell Leadership, Coach, Trainer and Speaker and has continued her training in professional speaking, coaching and training through the years and now speaks to audiences ranging from small intimate groups 5-10 people to large keynote of over 5000+ people.  
    Shannon's proudest accomplishments is that she is a mother to her 3 amazing kids Griffin, Grace and Gabe, and that she is married to her best friend Chris.  
    Shannon is now the founder/CEO 5 Fish Leadership Inc. Her passion is in wellness and leadership by educating and mentoring men, women and children to become the best version of themselves both physically and financially.  She believes that if she can be just a "spoke" in someone's wheel of life that allows it roll a bit easier with some new skills or better awareness - she's accomplished what she is here to do on earth!


    Gudrun "Gundi" Hodge

Gudrun Hodge is a Registered Professional Counsellor with a background in counselling psychology.  She holds postgraduate certificates in Alternative Dispute Resolution and Advanced Mediation from the Mediation Centre of Southeastern Ontario.  Gudrun continues to complete many hours of continuing education to maintain her professional designation and remain current in the field of mental health.     In 2005 Gudrun began a career in Organizational Health as a facilitator and trainer. Working for different Employee Assistance Program Providers in Canada, she has had the experience of travelling to many organizations, successfully delivering key note speeches, presentations and workshops on health and wellness.    
 In 2011 Gudrun established Gudrun Hodge Counselling and Consulting services, which provides affordable counseling for those in need, and facilitation and training in the area of mental health and wellness. In her first year of business Gudrun contracted with a global company presenting her Stress Puzzle series of workshops across the country, quickly gaining a reputation for her thorough content, effective delivery and a humourous yet genuine approach.  As her role as Counsellor, primarily working in the area of loss and grief, she provided individual and family counselling, facilitated group sessions, provided community education and founded a walk and talk therapy group in Kingston which still runs successfully today.    
She is as passionate about her work, as she is about people, and is committed and fully engaged in every relationship in her life.    
Her primary goal is to be helpful in a way that is most meaningful to the individual or organization, and her strength is to get to the heart of the issue, create solutions and effectively communicate to her audience with warmth and compassion.

Using reflections and observations on behaviour, this seminar will present ten tips for building the foundation for happiness. Participants will gain an understanding of the concept of happiness and discover attitudes that are more favourable to promoting a sense of happiness. They will also explore how negative aspects in life can contribute to their happiness.

At the end of this seminar, participants will be able to do the following:

  • Define the concept of happiness.
  • Identify their beliefs related to happiness.
  • Begin to develop their foundation for happiness.

Do you know how fast rumours can spread? Is it the same in all environments? Why are rumours so interesting for some people? What is a counter-rumour or an anti-rumour? This seminar will propose a humourous way of reflecting on each participant’s role when it comes to spreading and/or managing rumours in the workplace.

At the end of this seminar, participants will be able to do the following:

  • Define the term rumour and identify its characteristics.
  • Understand the effects of a rumour on others and the work environment.
  • Access tools for stopping a rumour.
